Pupil Ambassadors

Pupil Roles and Responsibilities

Here at Winwick, we aim to ensure that all of our children develop their courageous advocacy skills, confidence, and resilience.

Our school vision centers on three core values of love, perseverance and respect.  To help demonstrate this our children take part in and lead different groups including: Our Eco and School Council, our Lead Ambassadors, Our Happiness Heroes (which also has a focus on Anti-bullying), Ethos Champions as well as other roles and responsibilities children hold within their own classes.

Please see our excellent pupil teams below.
Lead Ambassadors

Please meet our Lead Ambassadors below. If you come and visit our school, then you are more than likely going to meet one of our Lead Ambassadors as they love to give tours and presentations about our school.
School Council

Please see our school council below. We meet once every half term to discuss how we can make our school an even better place to learn and be. Every meeting we elect a different chair person and secretary to run our meeting. We discuss what we can do for the half term and members of the school council will co-ordinate communication to the relevant people to help make a decision with our ideas that we have made.

So far we have created a buddy bench and worked with the members of the school community to raise money for Children in Need and St Rocco's Hospice, through the elf run. This year, our school council members are also part of the Rights Respecting School Committee. We will also be taking part in the GRACE Parliament later this year during UK Parliament Week.
House Captains

We have four house teams in school. Our children decided the name of our Houses through a democratic vote.  We selected a range of role models and then the children voted on the role models that they wanted our house names to be based on.

Our houses are:

Nicola Adams - Yellow House
Roald Dahl - Blue House
Florence Nightingale- Green House
Issac Newton - Red House

Pupils can earn house points through working hard, demonstrating our school values and by displaying positive behaviour and work towards a shared goal for their houses with children in each class across the school who belong to their house.

Our House Captains lead a range of events and activities across the academic year, including helping to co-ordinate Key Stage 1 Sports Day, setting up the playground equipment at lunch time and also helping to support their teams on our House Days.

Eco Warriors

Please see our Eco Warriors below.

So far our Eco Warriors have made many changes in school to help protect our environment. We are currently working towards our Eco School Award. So far we have done the following:

  • We have put posters up in every classroom and the toilets about how to save water.
  • We are monitoring the use of paper in school and using waste paper as scrap.
  • We have joined the great school clean up in March.
  • We have asked for donations from Ikea and the PTFA for donations to help us become more sustainable. We have used this money to buy recycling bins for each classroom.
  • We have also joined a 'Walk To School' scheme which is being launched in March.
  • We also have a 'pop up shop' where we sell plants and vegetables.
Over the coming year, we plan to:
  • Develop ways to recycle our school uniforms.
  • Begin the process to become a zero carbon school.
  • Have an Eco-Code/Charter for our school.
  • Raise money to develop the Butterfly Garden.
We aim to educate all school community members with ways to hale become more Eco. We only have one world and even the littlest change can make a big difference.
Ethos Champions

Our Ethos Champions meet regularly and help to drive forward our school's Christian Vision within the school and Church community.

Happiness Heroes

This year, to link in with the introduction of 'My Happy Mind' we have changed our Anti-bullying Champions/Safety Officer roles to sit within the Happiness Heroes.  Our Happiness Heroes will look at how we can develop our mental health and wellbeing, which will also include them supporting during our Anti-bullying and Safety Weeks.
