150 Years Celebration

Over the weekend of 10th June 2022, we came together as one whole school and community family to celebrate our 150 years of Winwick CE Primary School. In school on Friday, the children all came dressed up in the different decades of our school's history. We had the Victorians all the way through to present day represented. We held a street party outside with party food bags, bunting, music, hats and blowers. We even had a HUGE birthday cake!!!!!!
Every child and adult was presented with a special commemorative badge of the school logo with dates.

In the evening, the whole school family, past and present came together on St Oswald's field to have a special gala. There were stalls, food vans, a magician, a band and at least 300 people came to share in the party. It was a gorgeous evening and the sun even shone! It was so lovely to see many past pupils and their parents also returning to share in their memories of their time at the school. A huge thank you to all those Governors and members of the PTFA for organising such a special event. It was fantastic and many commented that we should do this every year.
To end the celebrations, we held a special Church Service at St Oswald's where the whole community came together to say 'thank you'. It was also the Holy Trinity so it was wonderful being together to celebrate that joyous occasion in the Christian Calendar.
Many past and present pupils, staff and Governors came to share in the service as well as take part. A huge thank you to all those who contributed.
The memory box from school was brought over and laid out with all our historic memorabilia from 1872 - present day. There is the original log book with the first entry of the school being opened. We also constructed a memory tree in which many people have added to from all generations. We even had some contributions from a few living further afield; Australia was the furthest!
We then all joined together in the Church hall to share our memories, see friends old and new and to cut the commemorative cake. Thank you to Mrs Walker - it was delicious!
It was such a special way to mark the end to what has been an amazing weekend full of celebrating.
Well done team Winwick; bring on the next 150!!!!
