Climate Change & Sustainability Action Plan

Climate Change and Sustainability Action Plan

At Winwick Church of England Primary School, we aim to be a community which celebrates God’s love, through which we aspire and achieve to be the best that we can be.  Through our strong Christian values, all members of our school community are encouraged to flourish and to become courageous advocates who are caring, honest citizens that want to have a positive impact on their world.

Winwick CE Primary School is committed to educating our pupils about environmental concerns and the importance of living sustainably. Caring for God’s Earth is integral to our school ethos, reflecting our values of 'Friendship' and 'Service'.

The plan is split into two sections:

  • Section 1: Commitment to continue with the actions we are already taking.
  • Section 2: Action Plan for changes/improvements to our sustainability.

Our Commitment: At Winwick CE Primary School, we commit to the Church of England’s target of reaching Net Zero Carbon by 2030. This plan follows the four pillars required by the DfE: Decarbonisation, Adaptation and Resilience, Biodiversity, and Climate Education.

  1. Decarbonisation and Net Zero - Aim: To reduce carbon emissions from energy and travel.
  2. Adaptation and Resilience - Aim: To prepare the school for the impacts of climate change, such as extreme heat and flooding.
  3. Biodiversity and Nature - Aim: To protect local wildlife and connect learners with the natural world.
  4. Climate Education and Green Careers - Aim: To provide students with the knowledge and behaviours needed for a sustainable future.
